In a bid to promote unity, mentorship, and interaction across academic levels within the Faculty of Law, a friendly football match was held on Sunday, January 25, 2026 between the UG1 and UG4 students at the university stadium.

The match, which kicked off at about 8:30 a.m., though organised as a non-competitive fixture, generated palpable excitement among students, many of whom gathered at the stadium to witness the inter-level sporting engagement.

According to participants, the initiative was designed to strengthen relationships within the faculty by encouraging informal interaction beyond lecture halls and academic activities.

The event also provided junior students with an opportunity to engage directly with their senior colleagues in a relaxed and collaborative setting.

Abdulrahman Muhammad, a player from the UG 1 team, described the experience as highly motivating. “I was really thrilled to play against our seniors. It was exciting, and I already look forward to another match,” he said.

Another UG 1 player, Abdullah, noted that competing against a team widely regarded as one of the strongest in the faculty added to the significance of the encounter.

On the side of the senior students, Muheebudeen Logun said the match represented a meaningful step towards fostering unity.

“This is our first time playing a match with our juniors in such a friendly and fair atmosphere. It was a great experience,” he said.

Although the fixture was friendly in nature, minor injuries were recorded during play, an occurrence players described as common in football. However, no serious injuries were reported, and the match continued without disruption.

Several students interviewed after the game expressed hope that similar matches would be organised in the future.

Abdulganiy Faruq said the event created room for learning and interaction between different levels, while Abdulraheem Sulaiman Alabi explained that repeated engagements would further strengthen bonding and healthy rivalry within the faculty.

The match ended in a goalless draw, but participants agreed that the absence of a winner did not diminish the success of the event. Instead, the encounter achieved its primary objective of fostering camaraderie, mutual respect, and a stronger sense of community among law students.
