Rufai Ashiat reports,

300 level students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, have been thrown into confusion following a sudden change in their GST213 examination results on the university portal; a development that has sparked mixed reactions among affected students.

The situation had earlier generated concern after several students reported that their grades had been altered without prior official communication from the GST Division.

While some students experienced an improvement in their grades, others saw their grades decline, raising questions about the process behind the adjustment.

Reacting to the development, the GST Examination Officer, confirmed that the issue had been identified and was being addressed.

โ€œWe have identified where the problem is and we are addressing it,โ€ Dr. Sadat Ibn Adam said, in response to inquiries from Gamji Press.

This reassurance comes amid growing anxiety among students over which of the displayed results represents their actual performance; the former or the latter..

Ummu Salma, a 300 level student explained that she became aware of the alteration through a class message rather than any official channel.

โ€œLast night our Assistant Class Representative sent a message in our class group that we should recheck our GST213 grade because some individuals noticed changes in theirs. That was when I checked and discovered mine was affected,โ€ she said.

She further explained that to her knowledge, there had been no formal request for remarking prior to the change.

โ€œI do not know of any complaint from my classmates or any form of request for a remark of the course before the change occurred. I am not saying there was or wasnโ€™t any; I am just saying there is none that I am aware of,โ€ she clarified.

For some students, the adjustment led to a decline in grades. Usman, whose result reportedly changed from A to C, expressed shock over the manner in which the issue was handled.

โ€œMy grade changed from A to C, and it shocked me. This should be technical issue, else, the big question on transparencyโ€ he said.

He also went further, calling for clearer communication from the authorities.

Similarly, Maimunat described the emotional toll of seeing her grade drop significantly.

โ€œMy grade was initially an A, and now it is now an E. Getting an E among As, Bs and a few Cs affected me seriously. When I saw it yesterday, I felt weak and could not even concentrate. It was only this evening that I summoned the strength to go to class and read,โ€ she said.

However, not all students experienced a change. Adedayo and Abdul both confirmed in an interview with Gamji Press that their GST213 results remained the same after the reported alteration, indicating that the issue did not affect every student uniformly.

While the GST Examination Officer has assured that the problem is being resolved, students have continued to call for clearer communication on whether the newly displayed results are final and accurate.

Many believe that an official statement from the GST Division would help restore confidence and calm fears among students who remain uncertain about which result truly reflects their performance.

As efforts to address the issue continue, Gamji Press will continue to monitor the situation and feed the public with updates on whatever the outcome is.
