The Usmanu Dan Fodio university Radiography Students Association (UDURADSA), on Saturday, 24th of January, 2026 has concluded the cohort 1 of its Digital Skills Acquisition Programme for students of the Department of Radiography, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

Aimed at equipping students, especially Radiography students with skills beyond their discipline, the programme which started on the 20th of October, 2025 had over 30 participants equipped with digital skills like Graphic design, Videography, Crypto Trading, Copywriting, Data Analysis and Web Design.

Speaking with this reporter, the president of the association, Mr Yusuf Oluyemi gave the reason behind the programme.

“The world is now digitised and digital skills are required to stay relevant in it. It is with the realization of this that we decided to equip our members with these skills that will help them.”

In his words, “access to the training was not only limited to our members as it was open to everyone.”

At the presentation of certificates to the participants, a mini lecture was also held.

The session, facilitated by Rad. A.A Murtala, had him talking about the importance of these digital skills and how important they are, being a Radiographer.

When asked if there is any chance of having a cohort 2 of the Digital Skills Acquisition Programme, the president responded that, “there is possibility of organising another edition for students that missed out on the just concluded programme.”

“We will also be looking forward to seeing our participants implementing what they have learnt from the training,” he concluded.

Speaking on his experience in the programme, Abubakar Shamsudeen, a 300 level student who learnt Cryptocurrency and Forex Trading explained that programme was an educative and insightful one.

“The programme gave me exposure and better understanding of how businesses operate. It also went a long way in improving my self confidence as I am now ready to start engaging in small-scale trading,” he said.

On what needs improvement, Abubakar gave supervision and mentorship as ways to make future cohorts better.

“For subsequent trainings of this nature, I will like UDURADSA to improve on supervision and mentorship, provide more start-up support and materials and extend the duration of the training,” he concluded.

Digital skills remain a valuable asset in an evolving global environment, as they help students adapt to changes beyond their respective academic disciplines. Initiatives of this nature offer practical knowledge that can enhance career prospects and self development.
